Five facts about the Ukrainian language
Ukrainian is the official language of Ukraine.
The language is an Eastern Slavic language, and is most closely related to other Slavic languages such as Belarusian, Polish, Serbian, Croatian, Slovak and Russian.
Ukrainian is written in the Cyrillic script, although this is slightly different from that used by other Slavic languages.
The use of the language was repressed in the Eastern Ukraine until the Russian Revolution, and has its main stronghold in the Western half of the country.
Ukrainian is thought to have a common origin in Old Slavic, but diverged in the 14th and 15th Centuries from other Slavic languages, although there is disagreement amongst linguists about the reasons for this.
The Migration Translators are a leading provider of migration-related services by certified translators. Our team comprises not only Ukrainian NAATI translators, but professionals in most other world languages as well.
